The Globs- The Weird and Wonderful World of The Globs LP! According to Oxford, a glob is "a lump of a semiliquid substance." The word is a fusion of blob and gob, a "lump of slime." According to Sacramento, a glob is one of one of six Globs, a spirited punk rock & roll band that references the cult pop of The Bananas and the theatric roots rock that is Bruce Springsteen. The Globs sprang from the mind of Mike R. Mike – also the mouth behind The Bananas. Mike wanted a "punk E Street Band," so he went about drawing from Sacramento's always incestuous music scene. First, he tapped Charles Albright, man of many bands (RAD, Charles Albright Band, etc.), and Christine Shelley, she also of many bands (Knock Knock, Pizzas, etc.). Christine got her dad, Nick Shelley, to play piano and sax. The Globs grew to include Craig (RAD, Sick Burn) and Jessica (Danger, Inc.). They played around a bunch, tightening up their blobs and gobs, and finally produced an album. Three years in the making, The Weird and Wonderful World of The Globs is twelve tight songs of infectious rock & roll – a punk edge, pop sensibilities, and that swooning feeling that makes you want to singalong. Like the best of today's rock & roll, the Globs have many reference points – intentional or not – The Raspberries, X, Beach Boys, Rezillos, Polyphonic Spree, and so… Push a movie like the Breakfast Club into the 21st Century and The Globs are your Simple Minds, albeit a bit more knockabout and that's all for the better. The Weird and Wonderful World of The Globs was recorded in Sacramento, California by Ted Angle and Pat Hills, and mastered by Pat Haight.

We are honored to present MOVING TARGETS' first studio album in over 25 years, "Wires", finally available now in North America! Following a European release on UK greats Boss Tuneage Records last year, we now present the targets' latest album on Dead Broke! Formed in Massachusetts in 1982, this alt/punk trio were quite the force in the 80's Boston underground, releasing four full-lengths on the classic TAANG! Records. Fast forward to 2018, main singer / songwriter / guitarist Kenny Chambers reforms the band for a Euro tour with drummer Emilien Catalano (The NILS) & bassist Yves Thibault. Next comes, "Wires": A milestone in their history indeed, the targets are back & sounding fresher than ever, but just the way you would want them to. CHILTON is coming straight from the heart center, stripped down high energy, combining the elements of rock, surf, punk, our higher selves and a touch of math where it makes sense. With the agenda to question all levels of information in order to be your own best authority, the music is our medium!

CHILTON is a new band out of Brooklyn, NY started by Josh Carothers of cult thrash bands ( IFARM / Earworms). When Earworms disbanded in 2017, Josh made a call to good buddy BILL Stevenson of the pioneer punk bands (Black Flag/Descendents/ALL) and asked if he would join in on making some music as one of the guitarists, not the drummer.

Bill said yes and the energy was in motion! After writing 15 demo tracks, then whittling them down to 8, Josh reached out to Neil Halpin (Earworms/Shemps/Last Throes) and asked if he'd be into moving forward with this new project: a bit more 4 on the floor skate rock. Neil jumped in. Josh met Devin Hoff and knew he could get the rad out. Devin was able to record half the album with us before he was summoned to work out of town. Neil picked up the bass and finished what was left. Josh flew out to Colorado at the end of 2017 to record basic tracks with co-owner of the Blasting Room, Jason Livermore, and show Bill the songs. A year later, Josh flew back to Colorado to mix with Jason. (Comes w/ download code)

Almost 2 years in the making, Dead Broke Rekerds & Specialist Subject are proud to present Adult Magic's debut full-length album. Long Island, New York is a very spread out place, but its' family tree of DIY punk bands has been weaving in & out for decades now. Adult Magic are one of the most recent bands in that long established tradition (featuring members of Iron Chic, Broadcaster, Sister Kisser, Crow Bait, Get Bent..) While very much a product of the Long Island scene, their debut album owes as much to 90's alternative rock, as it does to their DIY peers. Songs like Achin', Demotivation & Thru It All wouldn't sound out of place on MTV's 120 Minutes, sandwiched between the latest Sugar and Superchunk singles (you're going to have to imagine the grainy video with the band rocking out in a garage and side story that makes absolutely no sense!). PORCUPINE- "What You've Heard Isn't Real" 12"EP

Porcupine was born in 2006 in La Crosse, Wis., where singer/guitarist Casey Virock had previously launched another indie rock trio, Space Bike. Now based in Minneapolis, the band has evolved to full maturity, a potent force propelled by drummer Ian Prince and the most recent addition to the band, bassist Greg Norton (formerly of HÜSKER DÜ). In naming the band, Virock saluted one of his favorite bands, Echo and the Bunnymen, and his songcraft and musical sensibilities swirl the Bunnymen and other New Wavers along with 1960s British psychedelica purveyors (especially Syd Barrett) and 1970s classic rockers. The result is muscular and edgy, infused with melodicism and angular guitar work that puts the band in a class with Queens of the Stone Age and Swervedriver. To date, the band has released two full-length albums (2009's "The Trouble With You" and 2012's "The Sensation of Being Somebody") along with multiple singles and two EPs, the most recent ("Carrier Wave") recorded with the iconic Steve Albini. Virock's songs have been heard in television shows including "The Real World," "Best Ink," and "The Challenge," and the band has opened for the Meat Puppets, Mission of Burma, Shiner and The Life and Times. As absorbing and compelling as Porcupine's recordings are, they are a must-see live band, with Virock, Norton and Prince distilling the songs to their 100-proof essence." One of these tracks is so good that I actually wanted it on the album, but it just didn't get the vote. Long Island's Somerset Thrower are returning this year with a new album, Godspeed, on August 24 via Dead Broke Rekerds. They've got a sound that's got one foot in Jawbreaker/Sunny Day Real Estate-style emo and another in Gin Blossoms-y alt-rock, and though they aren't the first modern-day band to bring those two sides of the '90s together, they do it in a way that feels fresh and vital. Their songs really rip, and they really reach that cathartic climax that music like this is supposed to reach, as you can hear for yourself on lead single "Wake Up, Motherfucker! The last remaining Awful Man (ex-Witches With Dicks) songs finally see a release! These punk gems were supposed to be on a split 12" with another rad Boston band, Ex-Planets. Well, both bands broke up after a long time of procrastinating the release, so we canned it. Now they're finally out, splitting a side of a tape with essentially the same band, Life Hacks. Which is the new band from the Awful Man/WWD camp that probably broke up before I even put this up. But they rule & these songs are what you'd expect, only a little slower & more melodic, like old Clash or Oi! stuff. Digital available on bandcamp. Bedford Falls are back with third album "Send More Bees", follow up to 2012's "Elegant Balloons". This new album sees the band capture the power & grit of their live show more than their previous recording outings, and sounds like the crashing of (fuzzy) guitar driven indie punk rock. This is the Welsh take on that Dinosaur Jr/Husker Du/Superchunk/Moving Targets/Superchunk sound, with a healthy nod to Big Star - but in a sea of very ordinary bands attempting this genre, BF absolutely nail it. Next time someone decries the state of the local scene in Cardiff I'll use this album as proof to the contrary. "Send More Bees" has been more than worth the six year wait! What started as a side project in 2003 between life-long friends Barker Gee and Nathan Comer, Pizzasaurus Rex quickly became each band member’s impetus to pull themselves out of the musical vacuum that was Southeast Missouri. Originally released by the band in 2006, this critically acclaimed slab of rock n roll represents both Pizzasaurus Rex’s complete catalog and the first release of the Barker Gee Memorial Scholarship. Also featured is the artwork of Everett Gee, Barker’s brother and sought after punk rock illustrator. These records changed our lives (here at Dead Broke) and the socially conscious lyrics touched & taught us in ways music would seldom again throughout the years...

Fifteen formed in 1988 during the tail end of a Crimpshrine tour. After Crimpshrine broke up, Fifteen started playing shows. Fifteen embarked on their first tour in the summer of 1989, and recorded their debut EP in April 1990 for Lookout! Records. Fifteen went on their first US tour in the summer of 1990, playing shows with Filth & Fugazi.

We've maticulously kept these reissues as true to the original releases as we possibly could, while the songs have taken on a new life with a 2017 remastering. Members of Leatherface & The Sainte Catherines, Medictation present their debut album. "Dickie Hammond's (Leatherface) untimely and recent passing shook not only those closest to him but also the punk world as a whole, such was his influence and the positive impact that he had on the community. Whilst most of us are familiar with the majority of Dickie's works, his final pieces have not been released, until now. Dickie Hammond left us too soon. One small solace was the fact that shortly before his passing he played a key role in writing and recording the debut Medictation LP 'Warm Places', being his final works.The album was initially scheduled to be released on vinyl through Paper + Plastic in January 2016 but pressing delays meant that the record was never physically produced. That's where we came in. Dead Broke is proud to present the North/South American version of Medictation's, "Warm Places".

Having toured together on the East Coast/Canada as well as the Southwestern desert, Iron Chic and Low Culture decided that the next logical step would be to release a split 7" - and not just a split 7", but a split label/split 7" between Mike from Iron Chic's Dead Broke Rekerds and Chris from Low Culture's Dirt Cult Records. Iron Chic - Fucking fantastic existential, anthemic, and melodic punk rock. I don't really feel the need to say much more. You know who these guys are. This is their first release since their well received, Bridge Nine released "The Constant One" LP last year. Ex-members of Latterman, Small Arms Dealer & more. One of these songs is a B-side from "The Constant One" too. Low Culture - After releasing their debut LP "Screens" in 2013 on Dirtnap Records, the band has seen members fan out all over the place (including Santa Fe, El Paso, and Portland). But there's no plans of slowing down (too much). Features members of Shang-A-Lang and Marked Men, and sounds pretty much like a cross between the 2 bands, with the former's distinct songwriting style mashed together with the latter's tighter, cleaner performances. Much like Jesus, Pennsylvania pop-punk prodigies SPRAYNARD died and were resurrected a short time later, with slightly longer hair. With the band touring again and planning a new full-length, Square of Opposition and Dead Broke Rekerds thought it was high time to repress Spraynard’s long out-of-print and highly sought after 2010 debut LP, Cut and Paste. Spraynard perfected a style of highly musical shout-a-long anthem writing pioneered by bands like Latterman and Cut and Paste captures them in the midst of some kind of songwriting growth spurt. Remastered by Carl Saff with lacquers cut at Lucky Lacquers, this new 1000-piece pressing of "Cut and Paste" will be 6 parts black, 2 parts ketchup and 2 parts mustard, much like the black bean burgers that sustained Spraynard throughout their first incarnation.

CANCERS- "Fatten The Leeches" LP / Tape

CANCERS are an Athens-based alternative love child born to Ella Kaspar (DEAD DOG) and Lenny Miller (UNFUN) by way of Vancouver, Canada and New York City. The two met while toiling away on tour with their respective previous bands, and joined together out of a desire to craft their own music free from compromise. The result consists of crushing melodies, dreamy pop girl vocals, and new alternative guitars. While Cancers’ sound does evoke familiar grunge-era angst, Kaspar’s airy vocals, comparable to Beach House’s Victoria Legrand, distinguish the band from their predecessors, marrying vulnerability with sex. 

With their debut album Fatten the Leeches, the couple crawl hand-in-hand through anguish, alienation, despair and into the light. Tired of being pigeon-holed in the lo-fi DIY of their past, the band enlisted Jack Endino to produce the album. Endino’s early work with Seattle heavy-weights like Nirvana, Hole, Babes in Toyland and Soundgarden, established him as a king of underground rock records, and has been referred to as “the godfather of grunge.” Fatten the Leeches delivers, resolving Cancer’s adolescent lust for distortion and riffs with a satisfying pop sheen. 

Recorded at Soundhouse Studio in Seattle, "Fatten the Leeches" will be released on September 16 via Digital format. Dead Broke Rekerds will be handling the Vinyl & Cassette Tape, while their own label Kandy Kane Records, handles the CD version. Cancers will be playing a string of Midwest and East coast cities this summer/fall in support of their release. (Comes w/download code)

From Chris: "I suppose somewhat appropriately Shang-A-Lang's last record of new material, titled "Waiting for the End" will be released on the first week of what many consider the last year of human existance. Shang-A-Lang has been an incredibly prolific band over the past few years, having done countless splits (really, I can't count them), several 7 inches, an LP/CD, and a Collections LP. The release is between 7 labels that have helped the band out in various ways over the past several years: Dirt Cult, Fast Crowd, Silver Sprocket, Dead Broke, Let's Pretend, No Breaks, and Drunken Sailor (UK). Each label will have 118 copies on Black vinyl. These five songs are probably the best SAL material to date, which makes the break-up even more bittersweet.
